HA1915 Corgi   F-4F Phantom II - JG71 Richthofen, Luftwaffe, 2010 (1,000) £ 0.00
      Out of stock

F-4F Phantom II 38+33 of JG71 "Richthofen", Luftwaffe. The aircraft was retired from service in 2013 and replaced by by the Eurofighter Typhoon. Production of 1,000 pieces, of which only a few came to the UK.

The F-4F differs from other Phantom variants by having leading edge wing slats which greatly improve its manouvrability. German Luftwaffe crews call their F-4s the Eisenschwein, or "Iron Pig". Germany initiated the "ICE" (Improved Combat Efficiency) program in 1983. The 110 ICE-upgraded F-4Fs entered service in 1992, and some are expected to remain in service until 2012.All the remaining Luftwaffe's Phantoms are now based at Wittmund with Jagdgeschwader 71 (fighter wing 71) in Northern Germany.
The F-4 Phantom II first entered US Military service in 1960. It was designed as a fleet defence fighter for the US Navy but by 1963 it was adopted as the US Air Force primary fighter-bomber. Despite the size and weight of this Cold War icon the F-4 broke 15 world records and continued to hold five of them until 1975.
Produced from 1960 to 1981 a total of 5,195 Phantom IIs were manufactured. Eleven countries other than the USA had the Phantom II in their inventory.
Only a few hundred of this superb model have been manufactured and a tiny proportion imported to the UK, so grab one while you can.
